Liesel Wessels

Liesel is an artist based in Bloemfontein, South Africa. She Specializes in contemporary portraits and drawings with her preferred mediums being oil, charcoal and pencil.

Her work is about the contracts between world's value system and God's original purpose with humanity. Her work deals with subject matter such as identity and self-believe especially about a Christian's daily battle with realigning their identity to what it means to be a child of God.

Liesel was also the founder of the Free State Arts Network (2012-2017). She is currently the founder of the South African Portrait Society.

Education

Liesel started her education in the year 2002 by taking private classes at the Ernst De Jongh academy. Liesel then went further and started her tertiary studies at the University of the Free State in 2006 she received her B.A Fine Arts from the university.

Liesel also completed a photography course with Frikkie capp 2012 and most recently a figure drawing course with Pauline gutter in 2017.
